State Of Limbo

I always think November is a funny time of year, nothing really happens but everything is about to happen. With Christmas around the corner everyone is rushing around trying to look organised yet hardly anyone is, all the TV adverts are coming out and the trees are starting to appear behind the curtains as you walk down the road, its all way too early but we aint going to stop the festival fever anytime soon.

My main hobby, passion, work is horse racing and this time of year is very much the same as far as expectation and anticipation is concerned. The 'proper' jump season has just begun, the bigger yards are introducing their stable stars for another long battle that always targets and ends at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Hopefully we will make our way to Haydock Park next week to see the Betfair Chase, it will be my first race day since Chester in the summer. It's not the greatest course in the world for photos but the racing is good. It will be interesting to see if i'm challenged at the gate with my camera stuff. Last year they said any 'pro' like cameras would not be allowed on a racecourse, obviously a complaint from the press photographers, it's a shame how everything these days seems to be hard work. I know for a fact that the images I take and post on facebook are welcomed by those that take part in this wonderful sport so it's not them who are complaining.

On the doggy front we are also stalled and looking for things to happen, April has been at her new home for a couple of weeks and we are still waiting to here if she is staying there or coming back to be with us. The people who want to adopt her have a couple of issues and hopefully they can be sorted out, she really deserves some stability in her little life now.

Our next project could be our biggest as we have been aware of two dogs who have already travelled from Romania and are in kennels. Both are absolutely petrified and apparently wont let men near them, god only knows whats been happening to them back home.

I think they are about the same age as April and may need separating and getting into homes rather than kennels before they start to trust people. It will be long road for them but hopefully a better one than was once forecast. Leo and Rufus will be cared for and given as much time as they need, if only you could sit them down and explain that things will improve from now on and realise that the past can be a distant memory. It's so hard for these dogs but i'm sure the right decisions will be made by the rescue centre and us. Maybe we will have a lodger for Christmas???

Finally the decorating is finished and we are now taking a break from home improvements until the New Year. The hall, landing and stairs look fresh and it looks a million times better than it did. The outside needs sorting out next year and we look forward to that!!
