Time off for Dad
No real developments recently due to my Dad coming to stay with us for the week. It was great to get him up here to Southport while he was in decent health. He's coming up 92 and not been well over the last few months which has put things back once or twice. Anyway he finally made it and thoroughly enjoyed himself getting waited on hand and foot, as they say.
We brought his wheelchair along with his luggage as apparently they have stopped hiring out these mobility scooters, think the reason is they don't get returned! I had the privilege of pushing Dad around most of Southport and that was an eye-opener in itself. I've never walked down Lord Street looking for ramps and suitable places to get from one side of the road to another.
'We' walked down the full length of the pier something i had never done since moving up here. Its 1,216 yards long, the second longest in Britain behind Southend.
Ever wondered why they stopped at 1,216? Not that they were ever going to beat Southend at 1.34 miles long but who decided when it was long enough?
During my Dads stay we went out for a meal at a local pub and it has given me another idea for the website/blog, a critics section where i write my reviews on anything i visit in Southport. Need a photo of the Falstaff the pub we visited and then it will be published to the world.
Anyway the website has a new front cover as I've been toying with a few ideas about a 'latest update' section so you don't have to trawl through everything all the time. At the moment I've decided on images to link the latest updates but still looking for something more suitable.
