SOUTHPORT BRICKS
Town Hall 1852
My View
The Town Hall reminds me of some grand old American building and looks a bit out of place in Southport compared to most of the other buildings. It does stand out however and is a lovely piece of architecture.
Southport Town Hall is on the east side of Lord Street, the town hall was built in 1852–53, it was designed by Thomas Withnell, and cost about £4,500.
The building was extended to the rear in 1859, and was further extended in 1865, and again later in the 19th century.
The town hall was designated as a Grade II listed building on 15 November 1972.
