Join us in a lovely old building that was once a bank. While you dine, appreciate the ornate and intriguing architecture – and view from the glass walled mezzanine at the back.

Originally a bank built by Robert Todd in Neoclassical style, later a restaurant. It has a ground floor in granite and upper parts in sandstone. It was built in 1898 and much of the architecture inside has been kept.

Dates are a bit sketchy but it was a bank in 1920, one report says it was a Nat West branch but will try and confirm that. It was a swanky bar/night club before the Italian restaurant Ask took it over in 2009. Pizza Express moved in four years later.

My View

The Old Bank building is a bit of a mystery as I can't seem to find much information about it before it was turned into a restaurant. I read somewhere that it opened as a bank in 1920, possibly Nat-West. It's a very narrow place from the exterior but as one of the photos below shows it's still retained it's lovely features inside.
