SOUTHPORT BRICKS
Built in 1892 by William Owen for a company called 'Parr's Bank". It is situated on the corner of Lord Street and London Street and is a very imposing building built in in sandstone with a green slate roof, and is in free Renaissance style.
The Parr's Bank’s history dates back to the late eighteenth century, with a possible starting date of 1782. The first partnership was with Joseph Parr, a sugar boiler, his brother-in-law Matthew Lyon, and Walter Kerfoot, a solicitor. Partnership names changed and the firm was variously known as Parr & Co, and Parr, Lyon; more colloquially it was known as The Warrington Bank.
By the first World War Parr's had over 400 branches and these included banks in the South and eventually in 1918 agreed to amalgamate with London County and Westminster Bank.
Nat West Bank 1892
My View
Another great looking bank, Southport seems to have so many. Never been in the Nat West so cant comment about the interior but from the outside it is pretty impressive although maybe not quite as nice as the Midland Bank.
