Masonic Hall 1876

The Masonic Hall started life as a Methodist Church in 1876.

In the early 1950’s the Southport freemasons purchased the premises from the church authorities and set about converting the building to provide accommodation as you see it today.

In an acknowledgement of the beauty and classical architecture of the building, in 1999 it was awarded Grade II listed classification.

Today the hall is advertised as a venue for hire and has several different sized rooms to suit anything from a small meeting up to wedding reception.

My View

The Masonic Hall is advertised as 'A Classic Venue In A Classic Town' and it certainly looks the part from the outside. I have seen some interior photos and it seems to have been well looked after down the years.

I've always though this building was in the wrong location and should have been built on Lord Street to reach it's proper audience.
