Convalescent Hospital 1882

My View

This building is connected to the Promenade Hospital but deserves it's own space on the site as it's totally different in every way.

Probably not as grand architecture wise but still a lovely reminder of days gone past. It is in beautiful condition and i wouldn't be surprised if it looks just as it did when it was a hospital.

This building was built in 1882 along side the more grander looking Promenade site.

This part of the hospital was apparently funded by the Lancashire Cotton famine relief fund and later on was used to treat paraplegic patients.

The building was used during both World Wars to treat soldiers and sailors injuries and was also a place used for those service men to recover before going back into battle.
